How the keg valve works?

Modern kegs are more than just containers for beer. It is part of the dispensing system. Regardless of the size, each contains a valve mechanism that 1) seals the contents in the external environment; 2) allows compressed gas to push the contents out; 3) provides an outlet for the contents to flow out with the help of a connector.

This valve serves as the inlet for pressurized gas and the outlet for beer. Each valve consists of a spring-loaded valve mechanism connected to a pipe that extends to the bottom of the barrel. When the spring is compressed by activating the connector, compressed gas enters. These gases escape to the head space (above the beer) through the outlet below the valve.

The pressure of the gas pushes the beer down, forcing it to rise through a tube that extends from the valve down to the bottom of the barrel. Beer enters the transportation and distribution system through the valve.
